Zuriel and Chikwendu Chikwendu of ceeceereports at the SMC, Lagos

Zuriel, her sister and former presidents of Nigeria and Ghana

Read About The 11 Year Old Zuriel Oduwole
At the age of 10, Miss Zuriel Oduwole who lives in California, United States had already made history as the youngest person to be interviewed by Forbes. She was also an invited guest to the 50th anniversary of the African Union. Her forte lies on interviewing leading African and world personalities, including eight African Presidents and Africa’s richest person Aliko Dangote. She had also interviewed celebrity tennis super stars – Venus and Serena Williams.

While her stock continues to rise, Tanzania’s First Lady recently appointed the Nigerian girl as an ambassador when she came to the country to launch her Dream Up, Speak Up, Stand Up project aimed at inspiring and encouraging the African girl child. So she is now an ambassador for Tanzania’s largest foundation focused on gender issue - Wanawake na Maendeleo Foundation (WAMA) of which the First Lady is the founding patron. While in Dar Es Salaam also, she had attended the United Nations UNFPA event focused on reducing the incidence of child marriage in Tanzania. The First Lady Mrs. Kikwete had commended Zuriel for her leadership at such a tender age, and for bringing issues of girl child education to several African leaders, before formally appointing Zuriel an ambassador.
Zuriel with President Jonathan
She had conducted interviews with world leaders such as Rev Jesse Jackson, Liberian President, Kenyan President, Tanzanian President, Cape Verde President, South Sudan President, President Jerry Rawlings, Mauritius President, Malawi President and our own President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. During the interview sessions, they covered a wide variety of topics from the UN Millennium Development Goals, to the Education of Africa’s children. Remarkably, Zuriel was just 9 years old when she embarked on the mission to interview the enigmatic President Jerry Rawlings of Ghana for the purpose of her school assignment, on documenting a successful revolution anywhere in the world on film format. It was in the process of her research that she found out about the challenges of girl child education and the obstacles to girl child development in Africa, and took it up – thus her Dream up, Speak up, Stand up.
Zuriel with civil rights leader Rev Jesse Jackson of USA
The incredibly gifted and talented Nigerian girl had launched her Dream Up, Speak Up, Stand Up project now in several African countries including Nigeria. In fact her first leg was in Nigeria during which she visited and addressed the post-graduate students and faculty of School of Media and Communication, Pan-Atlantic University. It was her notable accomplishments that led to her being interviewed for a full feature by Forbes Magazine, thus making her the youngest person in the world to be accorded that privilege.
Zuriel, her sister and dad with cc
She is now focused on the Caribbean region next, and has started meeting with leaders from the region starting with Jamaica. There, she had already met with the leader of the largest island country in the Caribbean and the only female head of government in the CARICOM region, Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller of Jamaica. After an intimate and detailed interview, the prime Minister was dazzled by Zuriel’s questions, poise, and ability to focus on issues at high level. Miller lost the plot, broke protocol to hug, kiss, pray for, and then carried Zuriel on the lap for the formal photograph before the press.  She then declared: “she is our brilliant child from Africa!”

Major Hamza al-Mustahpa: The Triumphal Entry Into Kano

The grandmother of late General Sani Abacha would probably be the eldest stateswoman in the horde anxious to receive Major Mamza al-Mustapha today in Kano!

The atmosphere is full of excitement, nearly reminiscent of the return of Yoruba exiles including Wole Soyinka to the West at the transition to our new democracy in 1998 under Gen Abubakar.

Since that same time Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, former Chief Security Officer (CSO) to the late Head of State, General Sani Abacha was hounded into detention to answer to charges that he murdered Kudirat Abiola, wife of Moshood, who himself was then in detention for declaring himself president.
Now, after a 14 year sojourn behind prison doors, the feared Major has now forgiven his enemies as he closes in on a red carpet entrance to home state Kano.

“There was conscious effort by those behind my travail to paint me black before the whole world, but my gratitude goes to God for allowing truth to triumph over falsehood.”

“The last 14 years of my life was spent between solitary confinement that lasted five years and three months and detention in about 32 facilities located within the northern and southern parts of the country.”
The charismatic but fierce former CSO said his survival during the time was made possible by "toughened" "professional calling and my belief as a Muslim to persevere in whatever condition one finds himself" "ordained by God to test my will and trust in Him."

He therefore excused those claiming "to have played a role" in his incarceration saying they "must have done that out of ignorance." "I bear no grudge against them."
He concluded but not without putting in the usual word for those he left behind in his prison sojourn. “I have learnt a lot of lessons from my incarceration, and from what I have seen at the maximum prison, there is a number of people who are being detained illegally across the  prisons and those in position of authority must do something to address the issue.”

He then shut out those reading his lips for signs of political ambition, as well as those itching to find out the foxy major's next move. “I am still a major in the Nigerian Army, and cannot be dragged into politics."  "My major preoccupation now is how to reunite with my profession!”
However, as the ruthless major dazzles his media audience, Kano state is agog with activities lined only for a folk hero. The radio market that traditionally booms in the north has now notched up a bit as scramble to get the latest about their son becomes more important than a plate of tuwoshinkafa.
The loudest of the jingles would be the one sent out by Abacha's eldest son Muhammad, running virtually on every radio stations in Kano. The Abachas are calling on Kano people to come out in droves to accord a folk hero, Major Hamza al-Mustapha a bragging welcome.

It is already billed that the wife of the late former Head of State, Maryam Sani Abacha, would lead the entire Abacha family to receive him today at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano.
There is also nearly a concluded networking of Mustapha's supporters and well-wishers to hold a rally in his honour. Wow!

It is like Christmas in July up Kano as newfound boisterousness ginger the city of an estimated seven million people. All manner of debates traverse the city with some thumping their chaste for finally defeating the Yoruba. Others thanking President Jonathan for the release of their son. There are also those others who ascribe al-Mustapha's release to his utter invincibility.

A visit to al-Mustapha’s residence at Lamido Crescent, Nassarawa GRA shows hyper activity unknown to it as large number of people troop in and out of the house. Truckloads of cows, rams and other features of merriment is a major salivating occurrence now.
Huge plasters and posters of the late Abacha and al-Mustapha already dot strategic sites in a way that immensely dwarfs those of electioneering campaigns.

Major Hamza al-Mustapha is the 'in thing' now, and a bile taste left in the mouth of the Yoruba who are still too dazed to utter any reactions.

Then the salient question: "who then killed Kudirat?"

War Crimes!!! Boko Haram Leader ‘Supports’ Yobe School Massacre!

In a move negating the so-called ceasefire agreement signed by Boko Haram, the head of the Islamists said he supported the July 6 mass killing of 42 people in a school in Yobe , though he did not accept responsibility for the attack according to a video obtained by AFP.

“We fully support the attack on this Western education school in Mamudo,” Abubakar Shekau accepted.

The 10 minute video where he spoke mainly in Hausa language, Shekau is shown kneeling on a mat with a Kalashnikov resting on his left shoulder.

On the day of the last school attack, witnesses said that assailants rounded up students and staff in a dormitory, then threw explosives inside and opened fire, killing almost all the students.

Shekau also voiced similar support for the earlier Damaturu attack on June 16 where gunmen opened fire on a secondary school in the Yobe capital. In this attack they killed seven students, two teachers and injured others. To this the terrorist group leader claimed that “Western education schools” is a “plot against Islam”.

However, the military claim significant advantage over Boko Haram since two months offensive authorised by the state of emergency declaration started. Yobe state falls under the area placed under emergency rule and has generally seen a curtailment of the sects deadly attacks.
Shekau message further rubbished reports of ceasefire negotiations with the government as claimed by a federal cabinet minister and head of amnesty panel Kabiru Tanimu Turaki. The Special Duties minister had said he was in negotiation with Shekau's 'second in command' and that a ceasefire was in the offing.
“The claim that we have entered into a truce with the government of Nigeria is not true,” the wanted US designated terrorist Islamist leader said. “We don’t know Kabiru Turaki. We have never spoken with him. He is lying,” Shekau added whose group is fighting to create an Islamic state in Nigeria .
The United States holds out a large bounty on Shekau's head for an insurgency that has cost over 4000 lives since 2009.

View Pictures Of The Sexy Actress Who Will Replace Mercy Johnson!

When Mercy Johnson was preparing for her wedding a few month ago, the new Nollywood movers and shakers were also scouting the nooks and crannies for her understudy, if not replacement. Now she has an one - a sensual actress referred to by fans as simply Pink Lee or Pinky Lee.
Sexy Pinky was actually born in Kano but is of Delta State descent. And she started acting last year but rather rising quickly. She loves acting in all its ramifications, and her entrance into the Nollywood glamour attracts not only by her well-endowed sex appeal but by her uncanny ability to interpret scripts according to Nollywood knowers.
Blessed with in-demand enormous bust line so supple, Pinky's full sexuality overshadows you soon as noticed when ceeceereports asked if she has role models in the industry. "Yap I do.. Mercy Johnson and Tonto Dike.. I look like Mercy Johnson and I love Totons (Tonto)"
Not many would forget when van Vicker busted onto the scene and many immediately likened him to Ramsey Noah. Now Pinky, a more modern but striking similar to Mercy Johnson, she attracts doting glances from cooing male fans and female admirers who would always crave her for more.
It will not be long till she goes international like Genevieve, Omotola and the rest. So in the next 5 years, your rising star actress would like to take her acting to New York City, just for the start.
Pinky loves her burgeoning fan base and it amazes how she doesn't get tired spending time with them on the social media and other red carpet functions. There is nothing more she craves than for them to keep supporting her in her career. if you want an actress who dots on her fans, then Pinky Lee is born for you!
What's her other selling points you would ask, but you will like to know about her hobbies too: "I love dancing, singing, cooking, swimming and driving," she says. But then, you need to taste her food first! Her mother taught her how to make these delicious meals.
And her dance skill? Her personality nko? She describes herself as "friendly and nice." It is subtler than that I must tell you. The taste of the pudding is in the eating...
You wanna know the movies she has acted in? Many! But I start you with the Sorrowful Kingdom. You want some more?

Remember the taste of the pudding...?

20-year-old Nigerian Law Student Bags First Class Degree in UK University

The belief that Nigeria remains a land generously endowed with the brightest and best brains in the world was once more reaffirmed on Wednesday, July 3, when Osarieme Anita Omonuwa bagged a First Class degree in Law at Reading University in the United Kingdom.

Miss Omonuwa, 20, who hails from Edo State in Nigeria, also receive...
d the 2012 prestigious “Chancellor's Award” of the university for her outstanding academic performance.
THISDAY learnt that Omonuwa has, by the exceptional academic feat, become the first black woman to win the Reading University Chancellor's Award.

The chancellor of the university, Sir John Madejski, on the occasion of the award presentation last Wednesday, described Omonuwa as “representative of our brightest and best students”.

Like a harbinger of her uncommon academic glory in law, she had three years earlier, in 2010, earned the Reading University Scholarship Award for academic excellence and won recognition as the overall best in the International Foundation Programme.

In 2012, Anita’s academic awards haul included the Clarks Legal Prize for the best performance in Part 2 Equity and Trust, presented by David Rintoul, Managing Partner, Clarks Legal LLP; Keith Wright Memorial Prize for best overall performance in Part 2; and Shoosmiths Prize for best overall performance in Part 2.
In May 2013, she was at Shoosmiths LLP, UK to do a day’s internship in the Employment Department and in June she stretched her internship drive into Construction Law. The latter experience enabled her to understand hardcore legal issues including the intricacies of construction contracts and the inevitable consequences of breaching agreed terms while at the Clarks Legal LLP.

All along, Anita has been the harvester of honours and awards. Anita, whose father, Mr. Omoruyi Augustine Omonuwa, is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and holder of national honour, Order of the Federal Republic (OFR), said his daughter had shown great promise at a very tender age when in her kindergarten days at Our Lady of Apostles School, Airport Road, Benin-City, she finished as the best KG pupil and had a free uniform as a “motivational prize”. Anita also won the 2003 Bournvita Award for overall primary school performance at Our Lady's.

In addition, Anita won the 2008/2009 Certificate of Merit of the Igbinedion Education Centre in Benin-City as the over-all best graduating student in Accounting, English, Yoruba, Computer Science, Biology, Literature, Government, Economics, Foods and Nutrition.
Her excellence and eventual towering laurel in England is thus seen as the crowning of her intelligence and confirmation of her mental capacity.

EFCC Chairman Sent To Jail!!!

Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Lamorde has been found guilty of contempt by an FCT High Court which also ordered him to be remanded in prison until he divulges himself.

Justice Peter Kekemeke also ordered the Inspector General of Police to effect the chairman’s arrest within two weeks should he fail to comply with an earlier orders of March 8 and December 5, 2012 to release the practicing certificate of Mr Innocent Onwu, a lawyer whose rights were violated. The court also ordered EFCC to publish an apology through a national newspaper and the sum of N50, 000 as compensation.

EFCC spokesman Wilson Uwujaren who confirmed the jail sentence said the commission will appeal against the order of the court.

Madiba: Tribal Leaders Prepare For Mandela's Death!!!

Nelson Mandela’s tribal leaders including his heir Madla have been told to prepare for his death as he remains critical in the hospital on life support. This came after series of family meetings in the past few days. South African government as well as many other sources confirmed that he is not able to breathe unassisted any more.
Mandela, a Methodist will be given a Christian burial in the Eastern Cape, elders confirm it is against Xhosa culture to discuss the death of a living person but that they have now been alerted to prepare for his passing regarding tribal rituals that will be observed by the family and the nation throughout during the funeral.
Pretoria hospital where Mr Mandela has been treated for the past 20 days has held host to well-wishers who lay flowers and cards calling on the world icon to get well.
South Africans, and now the rest of the world are beginning to accept the fast-approach of the international statesman's final rest.
President of South Africa Jacob Zuma however calls for more prayers even though he says that South Africa has to accept that Madiba is old.

Okota Police Lagos: A Tale of Harassment, Intimidation, Terror, Disservice...

Inspector-General of Police

When the inspector general of police gave an order that outlawed checkpoints the Nigerian public applauded. A relief that would see an end to the extortion that has become second nature to the police force in Nigeria was welcome.

Then, it was said that some elements in the police tried to resist that order, but the IGP stood firm, and Nigerians applauded even more. From goings on in Okota area of Lagos one could sense that elements opposed to the instilling of professionalism have now found ways to pervert it.

Sources in Okota confided in ceeceereports that checkpoints simply moved from the roads to the streets. The police now stay with them in the neighbourhood, harassing motorists, okada and keke drivers. After all said and done, hands must dip into pockets! The police doesn’t lose some would say. They report irritation from constant the ‘brawling noise’ and scuffle from uncouth elements in the police.

Many people got in touch with ceeceereports to pour out their grievances and experiences with the Okota Police. Police is your friend! Not so? Ikenna (surname withheld) early that morning was driving his fiancĂ©e, a student, to the bus stop from where she would use public transport to University of Lagos (Unilag). They were happily discussing the events that they want to define their future until, suddenly, a ‘danfo’ bus double-crossed them.

Screeching tires, screams and tremble that it could be ‘one chance’ type of robbers. The fear did not abate as the first set of gun-toting men that jumped down from the vehicle were on mufti. They started harassing, intimidating, pushing, searching, shouting obscenities. They thoroughly debased Ikenna. Ikenna is a graduate. He convinced his girl to proceed to school and let him take care of the issue.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police

They impounded his vehicle and promptly drove it to the Okota police station close to Chemist bus stop. Bundled him into their rickety danfo bus and forced him to take them to his house. Like worms they burrowed in his house leaving it like a madman’s den. Ikenna said they even threatened to break into his father’s room. Then they moved to his shop in front of the compound and carted away wines on the claim that they were fake wines.
Only a few witnesses could summon courage to come close. The policemen were up to ten in number, some on mufti, some regaled in bulletproof vests, some wielding handcuffs and big sticks, all toting guns, which combined to give the impression that Ikenna must be a member of a certain criminal gang.
Eye witnesses who said they asked the most noisy of the policemen to tell them what Ikenna did to warrant this treatment told ceeceereports that the officer simply said ‘he does not cooperate with us, he passes us every time but he does not cooperate.’ Thus they carted away the cartons of wine, allegedly telling sympathisers to come to the station if they want to help.
Ikenna himself said he knows the policemen who would sometimes stop him and ask for his papers. He said he was later granted bail for a sum of N20, 000, and the Okota police celebrated his ‘release’ with some bottles of the ‘fake’ wines.
Since this arrest, Ikenna has been arrested two more times by the same Okota police. That is within a space of two weeks which prompted him to contact ceeceereports.
Obi (surname withheld), another resident of Canal Estate, Okota told ceeceereports of how he was beaten black and blue by a team of policemen, on a Saturday morning while he left his house for morning exercise. Dressed in complete sports attire, the policemen asked him questions bothering from the bizarre to the downright idiotic. This kind of encounter ensued under a chaotic circumstance as Obi noted a stench of rancid breath (apologies Wole Soyinka) of stale liquor oozing from their mouths.
Police: where are you going?
Obi: jogging
Police: where is your ID card?
Obi: It’s at home
Police: what do you do for a living?
Obi: business
Police: what kind of business?
Obi: buying and selling
Police: call somebody to bring your ID card
Obi: oga I said am going to jog, my phone is at home, my wallet is at home
Then what followed was like; ‘are you teaching us police work?’ Then they ordered him to ‘enter motor’. When he attempted to insist on his rights, they launched mass beating on him under the pretext they were trying to arrest him. This stopped and they let him go when residents of the estate started to gather at the scene, but not without a warning that ‘we go still get you’.
Another person, Emmanuel (surname withheld) who spoke to ceeceereports said that on his day, he just visited a bank at the Ago Roundabout, after which he went to the nearby bus stop to hitch public transport to his destination. Lo and behold, the danfo bus he made to enter was those of the Okota police with about seven of them inside.
Lagos State Police Public relations Officer

They ordered him to continue and enter the bus that he is under arrest. He refused. Before he knew it, about seven others hanging around had encircled him trying to force him inside the bus. Emmanuel said some of them where putting their hands in his pocket in a manner that suggested they were searching him. He said that as he tried to know what some are doing with a part of his pocket, others would be dipping their hands in another part of his pocket.
He said that they only backed down when he threatened to petition the Lagos State Police Public relations Officer. He said that like juju, all of them jumped inside their bus cursing him and yelling obscenities at him as they drove off.
Well-meaning Nigerians say that the IGP must continue with the reform of the police especially as it regards grassroot policing in order to weed out bad eggs and negative policing. A policeman who spoke to ceeceereports on the condition of anonymity said ‘they will only transfer him (a policeman who involves in misdemeanour) if you report him. Maybe they may take him to Abuja and he will continue there.’
