Chairman of the Economic and Financial
Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Lamorde has been found guilty of contempt by an FCT High Court which also ordered him
to be remanded in prison until he divulges himself.
Justice Peter Kekemeke also ordered the Inspector General of Police to effect the chairman’s arrest within two weeks should he fail to comply with an earlier
orders of March 8 and December 5, 2012 to release the
practicing certificate of Mr Innocent Onwu, a lawyer whose rights were
violated. The court also ordered EFCC to publish an apology
through a national newspaper and the sum of N50, 000 as compensation.
EFCC spokesman Wilson Uwujaren who confirmed the jail sentence said the commission will
appeal against the order of the court.
